CALL FOR PAPERS

International Workshop on Agent-Based Web Engineering (ABWE-2005)

http://www.dsl.uow.edu.au/abwe05/

July 25 2005

Sydney, AUSTRALIA

to be held in conjunction with

Fifth International Conference on Web Engineering (ICWE 2005)

http://www.icwe2005.org

▷ Call for papers

gent-based approaches to systems development are becoming increasingly popular. The agent paradigm finds application in all stages of software development, ranging from agent-oriented conceptual modeling and requirements elicitation, through specification, design, implementation, testing and maintenance. The rise in the popularity of agent-based approaches coincided with the advent of the web, and was, in part, driven by it. Web applications helped emphasize the value proposition of agent-based software and strong synergy has existed between web engineering and agent-based approaches ever since. At this time, agent applications drive web search engines and underpin the semantic web initiative. Large, complex, distributed applications built on agent technology are now commonplace on the web. Agent-oriented conceptual modeling techniques are emerging as popular approaches to web application modeling, while related languages with agent-oriented (and often anthropomorphic) language constructs are being used for the design, specification, verification and validation of web applications. Agent-based process and workflow modeling (as well as execution) is gaining currency. Agent-based monitoring, both of run-time code and of the entire application development life-cycle, is emerging as an interesting proposition. There is a clear need for a forum that brings together the full spectrum of agent-based approaches to web engineering, within the context of the premier international conference on web engineering. This workshop seeks to fill that
role.

▷ Topics of Interest

We invite papers on all aspects relating to agent technology and web

engineering, and their overlap. Topics of interest include, but are not

limited to, the following:

* Agent based methodologies for web engineering

* Agent-oriented conceptual modeling for web applications

* Agent-oriented web process modeling

* Agent based web information systems

* Semantic web agents

* Agent based web services

* Agent-based web process automation

* Agent based grid computing

* Testing, verification and validation of web agent applications

Submitted papers must be written in English and not published or submitted elsewhere. All submissions will be fully reviewed by two reviewers and will be judged on the basis of originality, contribution, technical and presentation quality, and relevance to the workshop. Workshop proceedings will be published in 2 formats: print and CD-ROM. Print proceedings for the ICWE workshops will have ISBN numbers. Papers should be in IEEE Computer Society conference proceedings format. Post workshop publication of accepted papers is being planned via a journal special issue. Paper submission is by emailing a PDF file to: ak86@uow.edu.au.

▷ Important Dates

* Paper submission: 9th May 2005

* Notification: 6th June 2005

* Camera-ready paper submission: 20th June 2005
