Today KMIS has become the largest professional institute in Korea in the field of management information systems, which encompass not only field of IT technology but also the IT strategy and direction of organizations, and even the sociological/psychological aspects of management information systems.
The Society has grown remarkably over the past 15 years. As of March 2007 the society comprises 1800 individual members, 8 special members, 13 group members, and 70 library members.

While guiding Korea to be a key player in the rapidly changing dynamic world, KMIS is dedicated to contribute to the application and the advancement of management information systems by
1) promoting the study and application of MIS; and
2) disseminating knowledge through the publication of research results; and
3) fostering international collaborations and information exchange.
To be a leader of knowledge-oriented society, KMIS covers the following areas:
Management, Management Science, Behavioral Science, Computer Science, Information Engineering; and Telecommunication Engineering.
